Vegan Soft Pretzels with Mustard



These vegan soft baked pretzels are a delicious snack or appetizer perfect for any occasion. They're fluffy on the inside with a golden crust outside, and the addition of vegan butter and coarse salt gives them a traditional pretzel flavor. Pair them with your favorite vegan mustard for a delightful treat!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon coarse salt
  • 1/4 cup vegan butter, melted
  • Vegan mustard for dipping

Instructions:

In a bowl, combine warm water and sugar

Sprinkle yeast over the mixture and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy

Add flour to the yeast mixture gradually, stirring until a dough forms

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic

Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a long rope

Shape each rope into a pretzel

Preheat the oven to 450F 230C

In a large pot, bring water to a boil

Add baking soda

Boil the pretzels, one at a time, for about 30 seconds each

Remove and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet

Brush the pretzels with melted vegan butter and sprinkle with coarse salt

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown

Serve warm with vegan mustard for dipping
